The Alpert Studio is pleased to offer a new program of group violin and music instruction designed to introduce young students (and their families) to the study of the violin. The classes will be offered in our Rancho Cucamonga, CA studio beginning in early October. The class is designed for students from 4 1/2 to 8 years of age.

Classes will be held on 8 Saturday mornings at 11:00 a.m. and/or 8 Monday afternoons at 4:15 p.m. in Rancho Cucamonga. Enrollment is strictly limited and scheduled dates and times may be adjusted based on enrollment and instructor schedule.

This unique program will be led by professional violinist and music educator Bill Alpert. He has created a new curriculum  focused on rhythm and movement, based on the pedagogy of famed violinist/teacher Paul Rolland. Students will learn proper technique to support a lifetime of healthy playing.

At the completion of the class, students will participate in a recital/concert. Successful class graduates may be offered the opportunity to continue violin lessons in a private studio setting.

To enroll, parents must participate in a special telephone informational session which be held on Thursday evening, September 30, from 7:00 – 7:45 p.m. To participate, please enter your information below. You will receive full instructions via e-mail in advance of the event.

Class Led by Bill Alpert – Teacher biography here

Paul Rolland - (Wikipedia) (b.Nov 21, 1911, Budapest – 1978, Illinois) was a violist and an influential American violin teacher who concentrated on the pedagogy of teaching fundamentals to beginning string students. He was famous for emphasizing that the physical demands of most violin techniques can be taught (“in embryonic form”) in the first two years of violin education. He advocated that teachers learn and teach freedom of movement and use clear, specific and concise instructions when teaching. His approach to pedagogy was extremely analytical, and his teaching approach was highly systematic & logical. His wife said of his work “Every possible movement in string playing was analyzed…. Different methods do indeed exist, but none more fundamental…. Paul never harmed anyone’s playing. He helped a person through certain body movements and the knowledge of what those body movements meant physically, in the scientific way of playing the violin.”
